Zen series
Jiawood x Monokayu
This series, created in collaboration with Monokayu Studio, draws inspiration from the architecture of Zen temples in Japan. Each piece reflects design principles of balance, symmetry, and the beauty of nature.
The Inner Reflection Cabinet is inspired by Tenryu-ji Temple in Kyoto, known for its serene garden and reflective lake. Made with American walnut and white oak, it features hand-cut joinery, hand-carved drawer pulls, and ash wood legs that create a floating effect, embodying the reflection concept.
The Inner Light Cabinet takes cues from the Hojo at Daitoku-ji Temple in Kyoto. Crafted from ash wood and white oak, it features a falling Asanoha kumiko pattern framed by katomado, symbolizing growth and tranquility. It can also function as a lantern with a light placed behind the kumiko panel.
